When you experience life-changing events, you are more likely to go to a beauty salon before moving on. In fact, most women will change their hairstyle when something big happens. Realizing that you now have to stand on your own, you would want to find comfort as quickly as possible after your divorce. You want something new.

During this ordeal, you may want to make drastic changes to yourself: perhaps a change in your hair, or a change in wardrobe, or even a change in behavior. Try things that you never would have done because it was against your soon-to-former spouse’s wishes. Think about making changes in your appearance that other people would not expect from you. Get an extreme makeover.

If you’ve never had short hair, try it out. People usually cut or dye their hair so that they will feel empowered. It is having control over yourself and your life. Because the truth is, you are in control. You have the right to change and you have the right to do whatever you want and whatever it takes to be happy. Rather than get depressed, start thinking about what has happened, what has changed, and what you would like to do about it.

You don't have to be someone you’re not, even if it’s one of the many reasons why you and your partner separated. In your years of marriage, you probably gave up a lot. You changed because he asked you to become exactly who he wanted you to be. You are not in that relationship anymore; once again, you can do the things that you have always loved doing.

A woman who goes through a divorce and survives it is a very strong person. You may collapse and become deeply depressed but that doesn’t mean you cannot stand up and emerge stronger. Go out and do everything for yourself. If you have always wanted to go blonde, give it a shot. If you have wanted to cut your hair for a long time, go for it. Once you do things you normally wouldn't do, you will be liberated. You will be free from the chains of marriage. You will have the freedom to be yourself and all the right to be happy with your new life.
